The Dangers of Low-Quality Porcelain Pavers and the need for Sealers.

In recent months, we’ve witnessed a disturbing trend in the hardscape industry: the rise of low-quality porcelain pavers flooding both the European and American markets. These inferior products, often manufactured in countries with lax labor standards, prioritize profit over quality, turning a blind eye to the exploitation of workers, including child and elderly labor.

But the consequences don’t end there. As if the ethical concerns weren’t troubling enough, these subpar porcelain pavers pose significant challenges for installers and homeowners alike. With improper firing processes and inferior raw materials, these pavers fail to meet the standards necessary for durable, long-lasting installations.

It’s also disconcerting to witness the sale of sealers marketed for porcelain pavers in both Europe and the USA. True porcelain pavers, with their incredibly low absorption rate of 0.5%, do not require sealing—a key benefit that sets them apart in the industry. The fact that such sealers are being promoted suggests a misrepresentation of products, as ceramics tiles, bordering on porcelain, are being passed off as genuine porcelain. This undermines the integrity of the industry and highlights the importance of transparency and accurate representation in product marketing.

These pseudo-porcelain pavers are prone to staining, low SRI due to heating, and glaze fading, similar to concrete pavers. This poses challenges for installers, as cutting becomes problematic, with the glaze chipping on the edges of the porcelain regardless of the blade or system used.

We refuse to compromise on quality. Our commitment to ethical sourcing, stringent manufacturing processes, and continuous innovation sets us apart from the profit-driven entities flooding the market with inferior products. We prioritize the well-being of our customers, our installers, and the integrity of every project we’re involved in.

It’s time to shine a light on these unethical practices and demand accountability from those prioritizing profit over quality. Together, let’s ensure that the hardscape industry upholds the highest standards of integrity and excellence. Join us in our mission to elevate the industry and safeguard the future of hardscaping for generations to come.
